High Maintenance... I scoff at you!

I was reading the blog of another young lady who went on NET Australia last year and is returning this year. Her blog had the statement, “And I took a 20 minute shower. I am fully taking advantage of that before I go back to the land of 4 minute showers.”

When I read this, my immediate reaction was panic. What will I do? Four minute showers?! But how will I wash my hair. It’s so thick!

Then I stopped for a second and thought about it. I am so goofy. It probably only takes me about 4 minutes to shower in the morning anyway. I am very low maintenance. Truth be told, when I think about it, I am probably designed for this kinda thing. My fashion sense (or lack thereof) limits my clothing choices, and I barely wear any make up or jewelry. I am made to be portable.

I also thought about my bath tub. And how I will not be able to take baths while I am gone. Then I laughed again, because I think its probably been over a year since I last took a bath. It’s funny to me how we have so many things at our disposal day-in and day-out yet we never appreciate or take advantage of them. But then when they might be taken out of our lives, all of a sudden we focus on them.

My prayer for this year is that it will teach me appreciation on an intense level. So that when I come back next year, I will take nothing and no one for granted for the rest of my life. I know that is a lofty prayer/goal. But man, what a wonderful life if it could be that way!
